Earthquake

The tomb and the worship house were destroyed after the earthquake in the year 1310 H (1890 A.C.) and rain water covered the grave of respected Pir because of the pit earthquake caused.

After this incident, Respected Pir appears in the dream of Sultan Abdulhamid II and says:

– Remove the water from my grave!”

When Sultan wakes up, he calls Hajji Ali Pasha and relates his dream. However, Sultan Abdulhamid II does not know where Respected Pir’s dergah is. He gives directions to Hajji Ali Pasha as it is indicated in his dream and assigns this duty to him. While Hajji Ali Pasha looks for the tomb whose direction is given by the Sultan, he comes across with Mürshid (spiritual teacher) Jamaladdin Efendi and asks him where exactly the tomb is. After locating its place, he determines the damage and informs the Sultan about it. Thereupon, Sultan Abdulhamid II surrounds the tomb with walls and elevates blessed Pir’s grave. And also, he rebuilts the tomb as an Islamic Education Center which includes a semahane (house of whirling dervishes), a tomb, a harem, and a greeting room.
